The greatest lesson we have to learn is the lesson of life.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
True philosophy is not just abstract theorizing and analysis.
It combines the love of wisdom with the practical art of living a good and meaningful life through refining and managing the mind. It is action orientated. It needs to go hand - in - hand with action. It deals with the way we think and view people, circumstances, society, the world and the universe.
True philosophy helps ordinary people effectively meet the challenges of everyday life and find ways to handle life’s inevitable major losses, disappointments and griefs.
In this seminar the aim will be to develop a practical, personal, spiritual philosophy through the teachings of the gurus of our tradition, the classical yogic literature and ancient Greek philosophical thought. The course will highlight some of the similarities between the ancient Greek and Indian philosophy and draw parallels between these two great cultures.
The seventh session will culminate at the ashram in Paiania, where one will be shown the tools to incorporate these precepts into one’s daily life.
