SYAE was formed in 2004 under the direction of Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. Its aim is to ensure the source of origin and high quality of teachings of Satyananda Yoga in Europe and therefore maintaining the integrity of the original teachings of Swami Satyananda Saraswati.In 2013 Swami Niranjanananda introduced the 2nd chapter of yoga during the World Yoga Convention. The current programs of SYAE are run under the directives of BSY and integrate the teachings of the 2nd chapter of yoga. All of its teachers (most of whom are acharyas) undergo regular training in the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, India.
