The ashram is again open to the general public for extended stays after two and half years in lockdown.

The greatest lesson we have to learn is the lesson of life. This becomes available to us when we decide to step out of our routine existence and adopt some different ways to live by, even if it is for a short time. One of these ways is ashram life, where you can stay for a few days and live a life that is diametrically opposite to yours and learn how to deal with different situations, different people, and different problems and, at the same time, also learn to deal with yourself.

                                                                                                                   – Swami Satyananda Saraswati

The problems we face today were already experienced by people many thousands of years ago. Ashrams actually evolved in India in order to tame and control the rajasic[1] and tamasic[2] nature of humans. These ashrams were managed by Rishis and people of vision who were concerned with humanity rather than with particular political, social or economic systems. They realized that unless the tamasic nature of the individual was contained, it would not be possible for a society to progress.

When you arrive for the ashram life program, you should try to become a part of the ashram life, working hard and selflessly. The ashram is not a five-star resort. Ashram life teaches certain qualities and a certain attitude so that when you return home, you carry this spirit into the family, into your work, and your community. That is the message of the ashram.

The ashram life program is a training ground where one can learn to retrain one’s entire being and personality to gain a deeper experience of one’s actions, interactions and creativity. We learn to stand back from daily interactions with other people and develop a balanced, harmonious, positive and creative attitude through discipline, which is an integral part of the ashram environment.

Yoga should not be confined to the ashram environment, it should become a part of your continued effort and part of karma yoga. In this way, you can definitely make every moment of life a yogic moment.
