About the Seminar Series

All of existence is sustained by a foundational pranic field that permeates everything—known as universal prana, or life force. Similar concepts appear across cultures: in Greek it is pneuma, in Latin anima, in Sufism ruh, and in Chinese tradition qi.

In yogic philosophy, all forms of existence possess prana. However, not all express the same configuration of the pancha pranas—the five vital energies present in humans, animals, plants, and even minerals.

In humans, the pancha pranas, also known as the pancha vayus (the five vital winds), offer a holistic framework that integrates health, body, and mind, emphasising their deep interconnectedness. Rooted in ancient yogic wisdom, these five pranas—prana, apana, samana, udana, and vyana—go beyond the physical body to encompass the subtle energies that sustain life. Each governs specific physiological, emotional, and mental functions, and together they create a dynamic equilibrium essential for overall wellbeing.

Through practices such as yoga, pranayama (breathwork), and meditation, participants will learn how to understand and balance the pancha pranas, promoting vitality, emotional stability, and mental clarity. This integrated system encourages awareness of the reciprocal relationship between physical health and mental states, offering a comprehensive and time-tested path to wellness.

For this reason, the pancha pranas serve as a timeless guide for cultivating a balanced, resilient, and vibrant life.

On Prana

“Prana is not merely a philosophical concept; it is in every sense a physical substance. Just as radioactive or electromagnetic waves exist even though we can’t see them, in the same way, within this physical body there are pranic waves and a pranic field.
Each of us has a certain quantity of prana in the body, which we utilise throughout our daily activities. When prana diminishes, illness arises; when prana is abundant, the body functions in perfect health. With excess prana, it can even be transmitted to others for healing or magnetism.”
