 Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Satyananda Yoga is an internationally renowned system of yoga belonging to the tradition developed by Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati as inspired by the teachings of his guru Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati and continued by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati and their lineage.

It incorporates practices derived from ancient and traditional sources, yet adaptable to the needs of modern life. The efficacy of Satyananda Yoga has been scientifically researched for many years and the wide range of practices are suitable for everyone, from beginners to adepts andt is not limited to any one culture, tradition or religion, political belief or social customs. People of all ages, body types, levels of wellness and lifestyles can implement Satyananda Yoga into their daily routine and reap the benefits.

Authentic Satyananda Yoga techniques are practiced at the ashram and at the Satyananda Yoga Mediation Centers. The Pawanmuktasana series I,II & III are the hallmark of Satyananda Yoga and are used to manage rheumatism , arthritis , heart problems and other ailments; to improve the  digestive system to increase the energy flow and iimprove vitality in the entire body  as well as maintain good health. Sri Swami Satyananda was also the first to define and teach the sequence of the stages of many ancient meditation practices such as  ajapa japa, antar mouna, chidakasha dharana, a number of pranayama practices and  Satyananda Yoga Nidra®.  The Yoga Chakra of the Satyananda Yoga tradition is created  by Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati is a systematic and progressive approach that combines all branches of yoga (hatha yoga, raja yoga, kriya yoga , karma yoga, jnana yoga and bhakti yoga together with mantra yoga, nada yoga, laya yoga and kundalini yoga) with a view to deepening the experience of yoga and spiritual life, attaining mastery over the senses and the mind, transforming one’s personality and awakening one’s dormant potential.

If you can recognize the inner spirit which you know to be within yourself  exists in others as well, and respect and honour that, then that is the state of atmabhava.

FOUNDER OF SATYANANDASHRAM HELLAS

Through awareness, we start to observe our ego orientated state of mind and learn to pause, then act, rather than react to people and the situations we face in life. Awareness creates a distance between the stimulus causing the reaction and our mind. The more aware we become, the more we learn disassociate from our ego oriented behaviour. Through awareness we learn how to make appropriate choices and decisions in our life and live in the present.

My honest opinion about the Satyananda ashram is that it is a special place where a person can get a full understanding of himself and the members around him; a place where a person can find peace and harmony for his soul and mind as well as get spiritual improvement. I think it is a heavenly place where you can get knowledge on the spiritual and mental level.

My time in the ashram will stay with me forever. Time was slowed down and a sense of peace pervaded. Every member of the ashram showed me care and compassion and shared their knowledge with me and I could see they wewr interested in me and organized the practices in a way that would help me. I was shown love, patience and compassion and had many meaningful discussions with them and other people staying at the ashram and with people who had lived at the ashram for many years before. All the exercises and events were done with peace and love. They were very helpful. I am deeply thankful to all I encountered in my journey there.
